The Phillipines' New Horizon
Horizons Foundation has completed a project in quality Christian
education in the Philippines. Worldwide English speakers get much
better jobs than non-English speakers, usually at least double the
salary of non-English speakers.
A challenge grant was issued to the operators of the small school
pictured on the top row, far right. Horizons Foundation provided
$6 US for every $1 US raised by the school for expansion, as long
as the school agreed to tithe their increased income to a nearby
college for maintenance and upkeep of the college buildings. This
was a huge commitment for the school officials, but the results
may be seen in the picture on the bottom row, lower left. The one-story
school was doubled in size by adding a 2nd story, and at least another
30 students are being taught. This is the best school in town and
many mothers will walk their children to school and then set outside
the school in the shade of a nearby gazebo to wait for their kids
to finish the day. The nearby college is receiving monthly income
from the increase. Let's always try to make the money work at least
twice!
