Ukraine's New Horizon

In Odessa, Ukraine, Horizons Foundation partnered with World Hope International - Canada to purchase Hope House setting on two parcels of property. During 2004 a larger piece of property came available behind Hope House and Horizons Foundation purchased this farming location. There is still one contiguous piece of property to be purchased when it becomes available at a reasonable price.

Just before Christmas 2003, seven former street children and a new 'mom and dad' moved into Hope House along with all new furniture. During 2004, two more children were added to the home and in late 2004 Hope House was honored by the Ukrainian Deputy Minister having national oversight over orphaned children as being one of the top six facilities in Ukraine. During January 2005, two more children were brought into the home, bringing the family size to 11.

The primary projects for Hope House in 2005 include fencing the piece of farming property ($3200) and purchasing a small tractor and trailer ($2600). Hope House now has almost 3 acres of tillable property.

The first picture shows the Ukrainian Deputy Minister with the children and parents of Hope House just after the ceremony honoring this effort. The next picture shows the two newest arrivals at Hope House after the government removed the children from severely alcoholic parents.
